The Hollywood Freeway is the main freeway that travels generally in
a north-south direction through the Hollywood area to downtown Los
Angeles.
At it's north-end (traveling south) the Hollywood Freeway spurs off
the Interstate 5 (at Exit 11) where the Hollywood Freeway is also called
"Highway 170"... as the Hollywood Freeway heads south and eventually
crosses the Ventura Freeway, the Hollywood Freeway changes from "Highway 170" and becomes "Highway 101".
From the south-side of the Ventura Freeway crossing, the Hollywood
Freeway continues south-southeast as "Highway 101", where the
Hollywood Freeway literally travels through the heart of Hollywood;
traveling through the Hollywood Hills, and eventually crossing famous roads like; Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Santa Monica Blvd,
and Melrose Ave... eventually the Hollywood Freeway leads
directly to downtown Los Angeles.
Once the Hollywood Freeway reaches downtown Los Angeles, the
Hollywood Freeway then becomes the "Santa Ana Freeway"... the Santa Ana
Freeway then travels away from the downtown Los Angeles area in a
south-southeastern direction, eventually merging into the Interstate
5.
